NCAR Graphics provides a wide range of color graphics capabilities forscientists and researchers. At its heart lies over two dozen high-levelFORTRAN-callable utilities for contours, maps, field flows, histograms,x, y plots, wire frame surfaces, and stroked characters. Its functionsare heavily oriented toward organizing large amounts of numerical dataand producing concise visual representations. The package is an ANSI/ISOGraphical Kernel System (GKS) standard version, written in FORTRAN-77.The output graphics metafile is a device-independent encoding of theANSI/ISO Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) standard. With NCAR Graphics,users can create an image on one computer and transfer the metafile overnetworks to another location, for display and output.
